Our Story
Built by Riders. For Riders.
Mototoad started as a group chat between five friends who kept getting lost on the same trails. Now it's a community of thousands. Same spirit.
How It Started
Five Bikes. One Bad Map.
It was 2019. Five of us set out on a week-long loop through the Cascades with a hand-drawn map, two GPS units that disagreed with each other, and way too much optimism. We got lost twice, fixed three flats, and camped in a meadow we never would have found on purpose.
On the last night, sitting around the fire, someone said: 'We should build the thing we wish existed.' A place where riders share real routes — not the sanitized, liability-hedged versions, but the actual lines with the actual conditions. Where you can find out if the creek crossing is rideable in May. Where gear advice comes from people who've actually used the gear.
Mototoad launched six months later. The name stuck from a joke about a toad we found on the trail that refused to move. Stubborn. Unbothered. Exactly the energy we were going for.
Honest Routes
No sponsored fluff. Every route on this site has been ridden by a real person who reported back honestly — including the parts that sucked.
Gear That Works
We test gear on actual trips. If it failed in the field, we say so. If it's held up for 20,000 miles, we say that too.
Community First
The best intel comes from other riders. We built the platform; the community fills it with knowledge. That's the deal.
Leave It Better
Pack out what you pack in. Respect the land, the locals, and the riders who come after you. This isn't negotiable.
